Biography

Lyric Soprano Aimee McCormack is garnering a reputation for an exciting voice to listen to. This past summer, she completed her second year as the soprano fellow with the Adirondack Performing Arts Festival in Speculator, NY, performing in a wide variety of genres, from classical opera to musical theatre. In March of 2024, she performed The Work at Hand by Jake Heggie as her Chancellor's Competition Prize with the UMKC Symphony Orchestra, and she later returned to the piece in 2025, receiving coaching from Jake Heggie himself and performing it again with the UMKC Symphony Orchestra. In her second-year as an Apprentice Artist with the Lyric Opera of Kansas City, she performed in Grammy- nominated production ofThe Shining, Amahl and the Night Visitors, La Traviata, and Carmen, and workshopped and premiered the role of "Mom" in Rachel Peters' Sketchbook for Ollie. Her notable opera roles include: Elle (La Voix Humaine), Littler (Proving Up), Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte), Mimì (La bohème), Gretel (Hansel and Gretel), and First Lady and Papagena (The Magic Flute). Aimee completed her DMA under the tutelage of Dr. Maria Kanyova, and she received her Master's of Music from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and Bachelor's of Music from Wheaton College. In her free time, she loves to bake sourdough bread and various desserts, hang out with her husband, Kyam, perfect her espresso drinks, and smile at every passing dog.
